Advisory and Reporting

Carbon management (incorporating greenhouse gas emissions and energy usage) is becoming an emerging fact of life for business in Australia. It is generally accepted that a price on carbon, whether through an emissions trading scheme or carbon tax, is a matter of when and not if, especially given the Federal Government’s announcement on plans to have a price on carbon by 1 July 2012. Furthermore, an increasing number of businesses face mandatory reporting requirements on greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption under National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Scheme (NGERs). This means that carbon is an issue all businesses will have to address.

While carbon imposes obligations on business, it also creates opportunities for entrepreneurial businesses to develop new revenue streams, increase existing sales, build brand value and reduce costs through innovative carbon management.  Furthermore, the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) Act 2011 provides an opportunity to monetise the carbon value delivered from eligible greenhouse gas abatement projects.

Our advisory and reporting service equips organisations with the skills to understand the policy and science of climate change. We provide analysis on the bottom line impacts of government responses on reporting and carbon pricing.  Importantly Corporate Carbon has a team of experts to assist companies identify commercial opportunities through:

  • operational review of business activities through the carbon lens
  • identification and development of carbon abatement projects
  • assessment of carbon credit eligibility
  • life cycle assessment of greenhouse gas impacts
  • making carbon bankable.

Also in Australia, the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) Act 2007 places reporting obligations on corporations that exceed energy and greenhouse thresholds within a given financial year. Our diagnostic tool will help you identify whether your company might need to report for NGERS and we have highly trained specialists who are able to further assess your company’s position under the National Energy and Greenhouse Reporting System NGERS.
